My Work-Life Balance Has Left the Chat….

It’s funny I say that, it never existed.

Hi, hello, hola, I am back. Did you miss me?

I took two weeks off because I went to Alcudía with my friends (or should I say mis amigas) and it got me thinking. I don’t think I have ever had a healthy work-life balance. My whole life I have worked myself to the ground, and I don’t think I have ever took any time for me. So having two weeks off from just this blog really refreshed my brain, so now I can be the absolute comedic genius I am.

Now let me set this out straight, obviously as a child I was not working blood, sweat and tears, don’t be daft now. But I think since I started my GCSEs I have never known how or what a day off is. When I was in school I would go to school, come home do my homework, go to bed, repeat for five days a week. Then the weekends I would get up go to work for 7am, come home, study go to bed. The same thing for three years in a row. Then I went to university, and I gained another job, plus on top of that, I was partying.

Now was the partying optional? No comment. But trying to do all that plus get my assignments done, and I am the most type A person when it comes to school work, I quite literally nearly shut down. I remember distinctly one day last semester going to work at 8 finishing at 5.30, then going to the library then meeting friends at the pub, I literally did not get a minute for myself. But I was happy, or was I?

See I've always prided myself on being a person that LOVES being busy, which I mean it is true, I actually do love being flat out. But there’s a line and I’m so far past the line, the line is a dot to me (please tell me someone gets that reference). This blog is a passion project, and two weeks ago I worked a total of 35 hours (all the full time office 9-5 workers are cackling right now) so never had time to pursue it. I’m not trying to create a poor me reaction here, in fact my bank account is looking might fine right now. It just means that I never have time to do what I want.

So I quit my job.

I’m joking, well I’m not really, I quit one of my jobs. Not because of that horrible week I promise. It was over a period of a year on and off of chickening out of quitting my job. Now there’s a plethora of reasons as to why I’m leaving, but the main one is that I have not had a weekend off in four and a half weeks and I finally am getting them off. Which means I finally have time for myself. I can finally live full time as a spud if I please two days a week. It also means I can dedicate more time to this blog, which is something I love doing!

Maybe now I’ll finally gain a work-life balance and be able to sit still for the first time in my life. Who am I kidding I’ll still need to leave the house everyday otherwise I will fully lose the plot. But at least you will all get more yaps out of me!

Let me know what you think, and I’ll see you in the next one.

Eva :)
